The panel of preliminary competition judges included publicist and talent producer Brian Edwards, Miss America 1979 Kylene Barker, producer Jenni Pulos, fashion and style expert Rachel Zalis, fashion designer Noah Alexander, D.C. lobbyist Lanny Griffith, and actor/model James Brown III; Vanessa L. Williams, who was crowned Miss America 1984, served as the head judge.

That's how Betty began as a pageant girl : “Some of the Miss Warner Robins board knew my family and told them last year that I should consider doing pageants. I had never actually thought about it, because I just didn’t think I was a pageant girl. I decided to compete in the Miss Warner Robins Pageant last year and had absolutely no clue what I was doing, but I knew that I loved it and wanted to compete again.”

Cantrell is a native of Warner Robins, Georgia. Her parents, Mike and Tassie Cantrell, are physical therapists. She is a student at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, where she studies music education.
