Meet Raissa Santana, the second ever black Miss Brazil

Raissa Santana has been chosen as the first black Miss Brazil for 30 years. She was one of six black contestants in this year's contest, from a total of 27.

Raissa Santana will have the opportunity to represent her country at the 2016 Miss Universe Pageant on January 30, 2017 in the Philippines.

"I'm very emotional. This here is a mixture of great emotions. I didn't expect to win this title, but I am very happy to have won this title and to represent black beauty and encourage girls who have the dream of having something, to conquer, to be a model, to be a Miss…now I want to encourage these girls and show them that they can."

Santana is a marketing student. She took care of her little brothers while her mother was out or busy working.

Brazil has won the Miss Universe Pageant in 1963 with Ieda Maria Vargas, in 1968 with Martha Vasconcellos. They made the Top 5 fourth times since 2007.
