Since 2001 Guam did not send at the Miss Universe pageant due to lack sponsorship from the event. The Miss Guam Contest was held for first time in 1966.

Muñeka Taisipic was crowned Miss Universe Guam 2016 on September 8, 2016. This 18-year-old nursing student at the University of Guam will have the opportunity to represent her island at the 2016 Miss Universe Pageant on January 30, 2017 in the Philippines.
