Amanda Debus was crowned Miss Delaware 2016 this weekend at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. She succeeds Brooke Alexandra Mitchell of Selbyville.
Amanda was Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen in 2008 and Miss Delaware Teen USA in 2011. She will have the opportunity to represent her state at Miss America 2017 later this year. The 2017 Miss America Pageant will be held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
The event will be broadcast by ABC in the United States, the first in the network’s newest agreement to carry the pageant until 2019, with Dick Clark Productions producing the ceremony. Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell (Miss Georgia 2015) is scheduled to crown her successor at the end of the event.

Former Miss Delaware titleholders have gone on to lead accomplished lives. Many have entered into careers such as politics, law, education, entertainment, and medicine.
Amanda is the youngest of two children to Mary and Joseph Debus. In her free time, Amanda loves to go shopping with her mom, hang out with her friends, teach dance classes, and walk around the University Campus. Amanda loves traveling, and each year her family takes a big vacation together. She has traveled to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and most recently Switzerland, Spain, France and Italy.
