Miss New Hampshire 2016 is Caroline Carter

Caroline Carter was named the 70th Miss New Hampshire on Saturday at the Stockbridge Theatre on the campus of Pinkerton Academy in Derry. She will receive a $15,000 scholarship and the chance to compete for the Miss America crown.

Caroline will work as an advocate for the Stop Diabetes campaign. "I was 11 years old when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, but I was lucky, because at the time, I was on a basketball team, and my coach was a Diabetes Educator!" Her diabetes superhero is Nicole Johnson, who held the title of Miss America 1999. She has written a ton of cook books, as well as advice books for the realities of diabetes.

Did you know this ? The Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program grants more scholarships than most other states in the Miss America Program. In 2009, more than $89,000 in scholarships were granted to the 26 contestants who competed after winning their local titles. In 2010, more than $85,000 was granted.

The 2017 Miss America Pageant will be held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sunday, September 11, 2016. The event will be broadcast by ABC in the United States, the first in the network’s newest agreement to carry the pageant until 2019, with Dick Clark Productions producing the ceremony. Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell (Miss Georgia 2015) is scheduled to crown her successor at the end of the event.
