You will compete at the 2018 Miss Texas USA Pageant. How will you prepare the contest ?

I have truly just been focusing on maintaining a healthy lifestyle physically and mentally. My focus has been on staying consistent in eating very clean and being conscious about what I put into my body as well as consistently staying physically active in order that I can be my most healthy self. I've continued to stay busy in my volunteering and getting out into the community to help and be of service in any way that I can. My preparation has also brought awareness in having knowledge and understanding towards issues and circumstances that we are facing in our world today.

I have learned through my training experience so far the ways in which I can hold poise and dignity and how I have gained skills in which I hope to one day be able to use towards opening and running my own business.

I now am ambassador for an organization, Bel Inizio, where we help disadvantage men and women who are in programs working towards bettering their lives. We work with programs such as Dress for Success, Santa Maria Hostel, Bridges of Hope and Star of Hope as well as many other programs. We help these participants find self-esteem and confidence through reaching their fitness goals by training for a 5K. Through my own personal experience I believe that when you're at your healthiest you have the capability to live a happy life and share that happiness with others.

When the opportunity to represent in the Miss Texas pageant came to me I was truly overwhelmed with excitement in knowing that this could be that platform for me to be able to continue helping people reach goals and finding the true health that lies within them for them to pursue their dreams and live their most vibrant life.

We are all unique so what would you say is something that makes you stand out from the other contestants?

As a dance teacher I truly believe and live from that knowledge that we all have something unique in this world offer. I work every day with my students on helping them bring out and find that unique rhythm that lies within each and every single one of us.

I think what may stand out most about me is that I'm 28, so I'm mostly likely one of the older contestants in the pageant. But I have been through the 'school of life' in  where I've truly found my inner rhythm that I can present to the world. This is my first time to participate in a pageant so I have no other option but to just be me and own my rhythm.

What inspired you to walk on the course of beauty pageants?

Honestly, I had a period in my life where a lot of doors were shutting. I was searching and knew other doors of opportunities would open, I just didn't know how or where. Eventually this door did open and I decided I had nothing else to lose but to go through it to see what I could learn and how I could use this towards eventually opening my own organization and business in helping others reach goals through fitness, health and their overall wellbeing.

Some people say that beauty pageants are degrading to women, same with fashion magazines. How can you convince them that they’re wrong?

I think the term BossBabe truly says it all. There are so many women empowering the world with their passions that they have turned into businesses to serve others. As I said earlier, beauty pageants give this beautiful opportunity for women to represent themselves in a way that shows just how much women are capable of achieving and doing.

Who is your ideal beauty queen and how has she helped you to evolve as a beauty queen?

My mother is my ideal beauty queen. She is a warrior at what she does and how she lives her life. She is the definition of a beautiful woman inside-out and what I've been able to learn most from her is the importance and necessity of growth; that you are constantly evolving and growing and that there is always a moment available for you to apply what you've learned and to continue learning. She's taught me through her own actions of how she loves and cares and helps others as well as equally loving and caring and helping herself. To me she is a queen!

I also really admire and look up to Nia Sanchez. She is a beautiful example of a women who just seems to be living from her true self and her energy in the way in which she presents herself is one of grace and poise and excitement for life and I aspire to be that same representation.

How do you practice confidence?

I think confidence is a daily practice of awareness. Awareness of you who are, where you are and where you are going.

I've personally struggled with owning confidence but in time and by forging through fear and doubt and overcoming obstacles set before me. I've learned that by living from an awareness of a future and having confident expectation towards what is to come breeds confidence in who you are and confidence in the way in which you live your daily life. I make it a daily effort to practice confidence by acting upon what lies within my soul in order for me to be a contribution towards society and knowing that there's a future for me in using that gift.
