Who I am today is a coalition of my experiences and the incredible support system I have." she explained.

Shivali was a pianist, singer, and trained as a dancer at Cary Ballet Conservatory for 12+ years and although she's very focused on her studies - "I also have a passion for fashion. I absolutely adore the runway." she added.

Here we bring you the untold facts about Shivali’s life and also her ideas, objectives and opinions… Have a look!

You will compete at the Miss World America Pageant in a few days. How do you feel?

I think I’m feeling a cauldron of different emotions! First and foremost, I feel privileged and very grateful. Having competed last year, I’m very appreciative of the fact that the Miss World Organization is no standard beauty pageant and allows its contender (those who wish to come back) to have the opportunity to try for her dream job again. Then again, of course there’s also the usual excitement to meet all of the beautiful, intelligent ladies and learn about their beauty with a purpose projects alongside the anticipation of creating wonderful memories that are sure to be unique to the Class of 2017!!

What qualities a woman should have to represent a whole nation?

America’s Miss World is not just a beauty queen but rather she is so much more. This woman goes on to become a spokesperson for causes that are integral to the people of our country. She stands strong as she speaks up for those individuals who do not have a voice, and leads by example as she empowers children and individuals all across the globe to be a better version of themselves with every beating moment. To be such a woman, I certainly feel it is important to carry the virtue of optimism, determination, and compassion. She must be a woman of strong character.

You are Indian-american. What makes you proud of your culture?

As an Indian American, I feel I’m intertwined with a little bit of both cultures and consequently so, this is a difficult question for me because there is so much to be proud of. As an Indian, I’m proud we are raised with a certain amount of sensitivity and taught resilience. We learn to make sacrifices as we live together in joint families and value respecting and loving one another. However, from an American standpoint, I’m proud our culture encourages independence. Our destinies are not given to us but rather created by us. We have the ability to explore a variety of careers before we can determine them for ourselves and take hold of our future. Not ever nation in the world can offer that.

What is your typical day as a pageant queen?

This past year as your Miss North Carolina World, no two days have been the same!! But I will say I always like to start off my mornings with a workout followed by an hour of reading something positive. As for the rest of the day - whenever I’m not studying or spending time with my family, you’ll find me either working out, working on my beauty with a purpose project, Bonds Between Generations, searching for more ways to help anywhere and wherever I can and trying to get to know those who support me.

What inspired you to walk on the course of beauty pageants?

Family time! I know it’s a little odd to say but one day, my parents received a little invitation in the mail! I’m not even sure we knew what the word “pageant” meant and what the process would encompass, but somehow we were all convinced it would be a great way to spend time together and that’s how I came to enter my first pageant. Long story short, I did end up winning that first pageant, and not only found my voice, but made some new friends, and memories to last a lifetime along the way. It was in that moment I knew pageantry was a force of good and ever since, I’ve walked the course of beauty pageants using it as both, a stepping stone for myself and a platform for helping others.

Social media seem to play a major role in pageantry nowadays. Do you think this is advantageous to you? Why or why not?

Well, I want to begin by saying social media definitely has the power to be good or bad, but I feel that it really all comes down to the individual using it and the way they use it. However, when it comes to pageantry - I can certainly speak for myself when I say I’m very happy it exists. It’s an easy way for me to stay engaged with the people I love and with those who support me whether they are located 5 miles away from me or 500.

Your favorite beauty queen?

I think the gift of time has granted us with many exquisite titleholders, but I am certainly inspired by Aishwarya Rai for many reasons. She’s not only beautiful but quick-witted. She has demonstrated determination and perseverance in her acting career which ultimately lead to her success and was also honored with a special award for her charity work at the Miss World ceremony held in London in 2014.
