Dominican American Beauty Brania Aquino on the road to International United Miss 2017

"I consider myself a "jack of all trades" because I never limit myself to what I can do." The beautiful Brania Coralys Aquino, a Bronx-native, currently residing in NY, will compete for the title of International United Miss on August 11, 2017 at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, NJ.

Brania is unstoppable. She does not compete with anyone except herself. In life, there will always be pressure: Succeed. Finish by the deadline. Make impossible things possible (usually within 24-48 hours). Many of the same stressors in pageantry are just as familiar in “real” life: Make sure you look the part. Don’t have any questionable social media posts. Grace and elegance, tact and flexibility, win. Be the best.

Of all the outside stressors, the pressure we put on yourself is enemy number one. We push ourselves so hard, and half of the time we call it “motivation” or “self courage.” But  Brania's goal is to inspire youth to be brave enough to dream big.

So, what can a "pageant girl" do to ensure they put on a successful event, get noticed, and grow from the experience? Read on and discover Brania's story!

You won the title of International United Ms. New York 2017. What does it entail ?

International United Miss is a new scholarship-style pageant. As a titleholder, you are encouraged to represent a platform and get involved within your community. My platform focuses on spreading the importance of living a healthier lifestyle and incorporating fun ways to remain active. This is the perfect system for me, whereas helping others and the desire of helping the community comes natural to me.

Brania Aquino has a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing, in which she has been able to apply within the entertainment industry in New York. However, she is working towards becoming an Optometrist.

We are all unique so what would you say is something that makes you stand out from the other contestants?

I've come across the most beautiful personalities within pageantry and every contestant that hits that stage is unique in their own way. I consider myself a "jack of all trades" because I never limit myself to what I can do. Turning the "you can't" into "I can" is my favorite challenge.

You are Dominican-American. What makes you the most proud of your culture?

Although I am Dominican-American, I am fortunate enough to have a strong connection with my Dominican heritage. "Pride" is the most used term when describing being Dominican. I know this is something I feel when I see our flag, visit our beautiful beaches, or indulge in a plate of arroz con pollo. We have some of the greatest baseball players in the MLB and some of the most successful musicians. I just love the country and the people are always so alive.

Who has the greatest influence on your life?

My mother (or mom-ager, as I like to call her) has been the most influential person in my life. She always challenges me and encourages me to aim higher. She is the wisest and most generous soul I have ever known. I aspire to be just like her.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I have several notable accomplishments in both my education and my work experience. I was successfully able to balance out being a full-time college student, work three part-time jobs, and run two clubs (Latin Dance and Modeling) throughout my college career.
