Congratulations on being a finalist of Miss Universe Iceland 2017 this year. How do you feel?
I feel really blessed and lucky to have the opportunity to be a MU Iceland finalist and step on the stage again. That feeling is indescribable and I know that I've never been as ready as now so I think MU Iceland will be my best pageant experience so far.
What part of the Miss Universe Iceland Pageant program are you most looking forward to? How will you prepare the contest ?
The MUI organization has a really fun and exciting program for us this summer but I'm really looking forward to spend the last 2 nights with the girls on a hotel, it feels like I'm back in an international pageant and I love it. Actually about preparing, I'm already ready and prepared because now I've done 4 other pageants so I know 100% what I'm doing. Now I just have to focus on enjoying and making good memories. -This summer only comes once and I better make the most of it!
You competed at the 2015 Miss World Pageant. What was your most memorable moment from the pageant ?
The most memorable moment from the Miss World 2015 pageant was definitely my juding interview. I was so stressed out but the second I walked into that nerve wracking room I only felt joy, happiness and the need to just be myself. I guess that's why I placed 14th from the judging interview out of almost 120 contestants. I'm really proud of that and It's definitely my number one favorite memories from Miss World.
Social media seem to play a major role in pageantry nowadays. Do you think this is advantageous to you? Why or why not?
Social media is already playing a huge role in business, personal lives, pageants and probably everything! I think that's a really good thing for me because my social media is pretty big, and it's big for a good cause. Thousands of fans followed me after my unique experience in Las Vegas last year and I know all my followers are supporting me and I'm truly thankful for that. Having so many followers gives me a good opportunity to spread my words even further and getting more women to look at themselves as a confidently beautiful women.
Pageant Fanatics already see you as one of the favorites for Miss Universe Iceland. Do you feel under pressure ?
Yes of course there is a pressure on me but I always look at a pressure as a good thing. Under pressure my mind does magic! Under pressure I've achieved amazing things and I know that I'll be the best version of myself on stage in september. And to the pageant fanatics; thank you for believing in me, It means alot to me.
Many misses have said that their dream since a child was to participate in a pageant as prestigious as Miss World (or Miss Universe). Was this your case? And if so, why?
As a child my dream was so far away being a "Miss" that I'm laughing out loud when I'm writing this sentence. My dream was being an Olympic finalist in track and field. I was in the Icelandic national team for five years as a pole vaulter and I was the sporty type all the way. High heels were a big NO for me and I liked my shoes with spikes under to be able to run faster, that's me!
Who is your favorite beauty queen?
My favorite beauty queen is definitely Rolene Strauss (Miss World 2014). I've always looked at her with sparks in my eyes and seeing her in person in Miss World 2015 was like a dream for me... I really like her because you can feel how caring she is. She's a true role model!
What do you want to be in the future ?
In the future I dream to become a midwife, happily married with a family and a home. For me that's what life is about, joy, love and quality time with your loved ones.
Thanks to the beautiful Arna Yr for the interview. Pageants News wishes you all the very best for Miss Universe Iceland 2017 pageant.
