After an 8-year hiatus, the Caribbean island nation of Barbados will return to the Miss Universe Pageant. The final of the national pageant will take place in Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on September 17, 2016.
Miss Barbados Universe sent its first contestant to Miss Universe in 1978 and has sent 11 delegates between 1978 and 2005. They have never sent a delegate for more than 5 years in a row.
After the death of the National Director Andy Niles in 2006, Candi Nicholls, a former member of Niles' team, took over the franchise. Niles had been national Director from 2003 to 2005. Between 2008 and 2015 Barbados was absent from the Miss Universe pageant.

Jamilah Forde is a medical practitioner, she is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Family Medicine.
Erin Griffith is a big fan of avocados, dancehall music and fitness. The 5'9" model and radio personality hails from the parish of St. James.
Renée Robinson - is from the parish of St.Thomas. A former Sergeant in the Barbados Cadet Corps, she now aspires to someday be in position to help others look and feel their very best as a Medical Aesthetician.
Danaé Brathwaite is from the parish of St. Philip. The former student of the Lodge School has a passion for fashion, food and spending time with family, and is currently pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management.
