Miss New York USA 2016 is Serena Bucaj

Serena Bucaj was crowned Miss New York USA 2016 at the end of the beauty pageant held on January 17, 2016. She is working as a model at Major Model NYC and has Albanian Roots.

At the same event was crowned New York’s representative for the Miss Teen USA Pageant, Natalia Terrero.

Serena will have the opportunity to compete at the 2016 Miss USA Pageant where she hopes to be crowned by the reigning Miss USA Olivia Jordan from Oklahoma. The winner of Miss USA 2016 will go on to represent the United States in the Miss Universe competition.

History of the Miss New York USA Pageant


Bucaj succeeds Miss New York USA 2015, Thatiana Diaz. Diaz competed against 50 other young women on 12 July 2015 for the title of Miss USA 2015. She placed in the Top 15.

New York is one of the most successful states at Miss USA, and is ranked third in terms of number and value of placement across all years of competition. New York has won the Miss USA Pageant 3 times : Jackie Loughery (1952), Mary Therese Friel (1979), Kimberly Pressler (1999). They also have the third highest number of semi-finalist (or better) placings (33).

New York also had a streak of 3 consecutive 1st runner up placements from 1972 to 1974.
