The new Miss British Virgin Islands 2016 is Erika Creque, she will represent her island in the 65th Miss Universe Pageant. Miss Universe 2016 will be held on January 30, 2017 in the Philippines. Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines will crown her successor at the end of the event.
The 2016 Miss BVI Pageant was held at the Multipurpose Complex in Road Town. Erika Crecque also copped seven of 10 section prizes – Best Cultural Costume, Best Evening Wear, Most Photogenic, Most Poised, Best BVI Promotion, Best Swimwear, and Best Talent.
"It is my job to promote the BVI regionally and internationally."
Creque has intentions to host workshops for persons living in the BVI, regardless of their status, where they can discuss and instill national pride. The beauty queen grew up on the island of Virgin Gorda and moved over to Tortola around the age of eight. She completed her primary education at the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School, then moved on to the Elmore Stoutt High School, where she graduated with high honours in 2011 and placed 16th in her graduating class.
