You will compete at the Miss Texas USA Pageant, how will you prepare the contest ? What unique characteristics would you say you bring to the competition?
I have been preparing to be Miss Texas USA my entire life. How? My life experiences - career, philanthropic, television, education - in addition to my past pageant training and experiences have equipped me with all the skills needed to be an excellent candidate for Miss Texas USA and Miss USA.
I am a leader in my community, expert in my field of work and dedicated philanthropist. While I have the public speaking skills, confidence, poise, discipline needed to be Miss Texas USA, I also have grit. I can trade the stilettos for cowboy boots to sell one of my ranch listings. I can throw my hair in a ponytail and roll up my sleeves to volunteer hands-on.
What do you expect to gain by competing in pageantry?
Pageants have helped me gain poise, confidence, speaking skills and determination that permeate all aspects of my life. I can honestly say that pageantry has molded me into the woman I am today and was a huge catalyst in my life that has lead to other opportunities and successes in my life.
Tell me something about yourself and your work. What do you actually do, and have done in the past?
I've been a realtor in DFW for almost 4 years specializing in residential, farm and ranch and investment sales. Within the farm and ranch realm, I have found my niche working with turn-key recreational ranches and hunting properties. This year, I was voted Top Realtor by Fort Worth Magazine and Best Real Estate Agent by 360 West Magazine. My company, Rogers Healy and Associates, is one of the top 25 producing brokerages in all of DFW with just about 250 agents. Just this month, I was awarded the Healy Hustle, Philanthropist of the Year and Million Dollar Producer awards.
In addition to regular realtor, I am also a real estate investor. I have renovated and flipped many houses in the past few years and am currently working on two very large projects totaling over $1.5M when they hit the market this spring. My family background in construction and eye for design make this an area I especially love and excel at.
Social media seem to play a major role in pageantry nowadays. Do you think this is advantageous to you? Why or why not?
Social media gives people a look into the girl behind the headshot and off the stage. I want for people to be able to see the real me and what my life entails on the day-to-day. I have nothing to hide on my social media and am very comfortable having anyone pageant world take a look! @ashtontheiss
We’ve all seen the stereotypical portrayals of pageant contestants, a la Miss Congeniality, spreading peace, love and beauty throughout the world. How do you think you'll make a difference ?
Breaking pageant stereotypes is why I am so determined to be Miss Texas USA. While still wearing the crown beautifully, gracefully and confidently, I want to be a real, relatable Miss Texas USA that is determined to make a positive impact on the world.
Thanks to the beautiful Ashton for the interview. Pageants News wishes you all the very best for Miss Texas USA pageant.
