Pageants News : Tell me something about yourself and your work. What do you actually do, and have done in the past?
CHARLOTTE ALLISON-BRUCE - Miss Global Australia, Miss Intercontinental Australia National Finalist : I always knew I wanted to do something creative and in design. Coming from a very creative family I developed a love for fashion very early on in life. After school I studied a Bachelor of Design in fashion. I have started two businesses a casual/formal womens wear label and an Equestrian clothing label. Both to be launched in the coming months. Apart from design I have spent my life, training and competing all across Australia with my show horses.
You were the first runner-up in Miss Global Australia and Miss Galaxy Australia. What inspired you to walk on the course of beauty pageants?
I have always been really inspired by women involved in beauty pageants since I was a little girl and I have always looked up to beauty queens. In 2014 I finally decided to give it a go and instantly I was hooked! It wasn't until I really found my feet in the pageant world and that was my involvement with Miss Global Australia and Miss Galaxy Australia. I truly feel that these systems qualities are those that I can relate to. I have had an amazing national director who has guided me and encouraged me to improve on the pageant stage and I have absolutely loved my time in these systems! I am so excited to be competing for Miss Global Australia again and the new Australia title of Miss Intercontinental Australia.
Did you plan to compete in a pageant like Miss Universe Australia or Miss World Australia ?
My first ever pageant was in fact Miss Universe Australia. It was a great experience and beginning to the pageant world. I learnt a lot and met some amazing girls who are still dear friends today. My goal since entering and competing in Miss Galaxy Australia and Miss Global Australia has been to grow and eventually represent Australia on the international stage at one of these systems. This is where my heart is truly invested.
Did you face any moment of disappointment with yourself during the pageant journey, and how did you overcome it?
Competing in pageantry has taught me a lot. My biggest disappointment eventually became my biggest triumph. Before my first pageant (Miss Universe Australia) I was so nervous that I was very close to pulling out. However I gathered up the courage and competed and made it through as a finalist. I am so thankful that I didn't give up and that I found the courage to compete as that was the beginning of my pageant journey and I am truly grateful for the experiences, friendships and lessons I have learnt from this amazing industry!
Social media seem to play a major role in pageantry nowadays. Do you think this is advantageous to you? Why or why not?
I believe social media plays a major role in every industry and it has allowed us to communicate freely with people across the world. I love maintaining an active social media and using my social media platforms as a voice. I find it an exciting and enjoyable platform for communication.
Who is your favorite beauty queen?
I have many favourite Queens and they are the Miss Global Australia and Miss Galaxy Australia Queens past and present. These queens have not only been role models but they have been mentors and friends and I am so thankful to them and their guidance and support in pageantry. These Queens are not only beautiful and kind they are also very humble and I believe it is very important for every queen to remain humble through all her success.
Thanks to the beautiful Charlotte for the interview. Pageants News wishes you all the very best for Miss Global/Intercontinental 2017 pageant.
