Miss Alabamas have performed strongly at the Miss America pageant, particularly in the early 21st century, when the state produced their third Miss America, a first runner-up, a second runner-up, a fourth runner-up, two semi-finalists, and one quarter-finalist.
Congratulations Hayley Barber, Miss Alabama 2016!
Barber is the founder of community service platform "Sight for Small Eyes" where she encourages eye examinations at a young age and raise funds for children with low vision.
She will have the opportunity to represent her state at Miss America 2017 later this year. The 2017 Miss America Pageant will be held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sunday, September 11, 2016.
The event will be broadcast by ABC in the United States, the first in the network’s newest agreement to carry the pageant until 2019, with Dick Clark Productions producing the ceremony. Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell (Miss Georgia 2015) is scheduled to crown her successor at the end of the event.
