You will compete at the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant, how will you prepare the contest ? What inspired you to walk on the course of beauty pageants?
I have diligently trained physically and mentally for this pageant. I keep informed on the news and political environment as well as nutrition and health. Growing up as athlete and with all brothers, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try something challenging, such a pageants.
Many misses have said that their dream since a child was to participate in a pageant as prestigious as Miss World (or Miss Universe). It it your case ? And if so, why ?
What little girl doesn't want to be a princess? I've always had this grand dream of wearing a flowing gown and beautiful crown. I've dedicated years of work to achieve this goal! Last year I was 1st runner up! I'm so close I can almost taste it.
Did you face any moment of disappointment with yourself during the pageant journey, and how did you overcome it?
I try and stay motivated and inspired. Sometimes self- doubt can creep in, and the saying goes "doubt kills more dreams than failure ever does". Therefore, I try and motivated, upbeat, and love myself no matter what.
We’ve all seen the stereotypical portrayals of pageant contestants, a la Miss Congeniality, spreading peace, love and beauty throughout the world. How do you think you'll make a difference ?
I will make a difference by sharing my latest struggle and showing that hope, inspiration, and faith can really make a difference. I lost half my hearing through this journey of battling tumors. I wear hearing aids now. I want to show that circumstances do not define who you are, but it's all in you're ability to rise above and be the best you can be. I may not have 100% hearing, but I will promise I will be the best listener!
What would you advise any young girl out there who has a dream of being a queen one day?
If you can dream it, you can achieve it! It all about heart.
Who is your ideal beauty queen and how has she helped you to evolve as a beauty queen?
I was vacationing with my family in Dominican Republic in 2003 when Amelia Vega won Miss Universe. I remember seeing her all over the news at 10 years old and was in awe. I told myself that would be me one day! Now, I'm pursuing that dream!
Thanks to the beautiful Victoria for the interview. Pageants News wishes you all the very best for Miss North Carolina USA pageant.
