Miss USA

Allie Gonzalez takes her dedication and determination to Miss Texas USA

"It doesn't matter how many times you fall as long as you get back up" - The gorgeous Allie Gonzalez will compete for the crown of Miss Texas USA 2018 later this year. This will be her 7th time. She was a semi-finalist in 2013, made the Top 17 in 2016 and went on to be the first and 4th runner-up in 2015 and 2014.

Allie believes that being a pageant title holder is a job that requires hard work, dedication and determination, because you’re no longer representing yourself but a group of people and a country. The pageant world gives opportunity like no other. You gain poise, self-confidence, new talents and valuable communication skills. You feel good about yourself and gain the competitive edge to succeed later in whatever field you may choose.

So, what can a "pageant girl" do to ensure they put on a successful event, get noticed, and grow from the experience? Discover Allie's story below!

Allie Gonzalez graduated with a Master's degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.  She was a cheerleader in high school. She grew up watching Miss Universe and Miss USA with her mom "I never thought I would be one of this girls" she explained.

Despite some misconceptions, beauty pageants are not all about physical appearance. Participants are given a chance to show off their talent, they are given challenging questions to answer. And Allie claims that the pageant world has taught her a lot of things; how to introduce herself, how to be diplomatic and how to engage people.

About the Miss Texas USA Pageant

Nine Miss Texas USA titleholders have won the Miss USA title and one, Chelsi Smith, has been crowned Miss Universe. In the 1980s Texas won the Miss USA title five consecutive years from 1985 to 1989, a streak known as the "Texas Aces". Prior to this no state had ever won the Miss USA pageant more than two times in succession. The pageant is currently held in Houston and has previously been hosted by El Paso, San Antonio, South Padre Island, Lubbock and Laredo.

Contestants enter by winning local pageants or may choose to compete "at large" with an assigned title.

Nancy Gonzalez from Galveston is the reigning Miss Texas USA. She represented her state at the 2017 Miss USA Pageant in Las Vegas.
