Social media seem to play a major role in pageantry nowadays. Do you think this is advantageous to you? Why or why not?
Social Media does play a major roll with pageantry. You always want to portray positivity in your social media. It has taught me to always be aware of what I am posting while still allowing my personality to seep through my social media channels. Many corporations now a days will screen your social media pages and pageantry has already taught me to always be respectful and represent myself as a young, confident, and strong woman.
Miss USA and Miss America.. Which system do you prefer and why ?
I have been competing in the Miss USA system and I am not to familiar with Miss America. What I do know is that both pageants are great vessels for young women. They both open doors and give the contestants a voice . It is such an honor to call some of these women colleagues and friends and see them give back whether through their charity work or simply by sharing their stories . These stories inspire and motivate me personally to always strive to be a better person and I hope it does the same to other women as well.
What has been the biggest challenge you have faced in your life ?
Growing up I didn't know who my real father was , that made me develop a sense of rejection . Thankfully life blessed me with a strong step father who came into my life. He took me in as his own and has always been there for me as a Father and one of my strongest supporters.
Your favorite beauty queen?
Culpo won the Miss USA 2012 pageant, representing her home state of Rhode Island. She previously won the 2012 Miss Rhode Island USA competition, which was the first pageant she entered. Crowned Miss Universe 2012 in Las Vegas, she is the first winner from the USA to obtain the crown since Brook Lee in 1997.
Where do we hope to see you In the next 10 years?
In the next ten years I hope to be involved with pageantry in same way either as a mentor or use the platform to launch my self into what is my dream job to become a Fashion Correspondent.
If there’s one message that you would like everyone to hear so people can know who you are as a person, what would that message be?
My message to people is to stay true to who you are. Never allow anyone to tell you you're not good enough. If you keep pushing towards your dreams and goals eventually you will find the platform that will help you shine and bring out the best of you.
Thanks to the beautiful Kimberly for the interview.
