By the way, the Miss USA Pageant has really made us appreciate the wonderful diversity of the contestants who are participating in this year's pageant. This year's Miss USA contestants represent many different ethnic backgrounds, including six Latinas (four of whom are of Mexican descent.) Annually, nearly ten thousand young women all around the world participate in Miss Universe pageant events.
We are going to end this little spiel with Maria Remenyi, the first naturalised citizen to become Miss USA. Maria was born in Denmark, raised in Hungary and escaped to the US during the Hungarian revolt. She was Miss USA 1966.
Diversity of the 2015 Miss USA Contestants
Maureen Montagne, Miss Arizona USA 2015 - Filipina and French. She hopes to one day be a reporter in Asia, specifically the Philippines or Singapore. She told Miss USA that having a mixed background makes for a really interesting atmosphere.
Natasha Martinez, Miss California USA 2015 - Nicaraguan/Mexican. She speaks both English and Spanish.

Miss Maryland USA 2015 Mame Adjei - Daughter of a Ghanaian diplomat. Adjei speaks French and Akan, which is a language spoken in Ghana, the West African country where her father is from and where she lived until she was nine.
Miss Massachusetts USA 2015 Polikseni Manxhari - Albanian (came to US when she was 5)
Miss Nebraska USA 2015 Hoang Kim Cung - Vietnamese. Cung’s family immigrated from Vietnam, and Vietnamese was actually her first language. Her family wanted to ensure they preserved their culture while in the states, so they made sure to solidify the language before she learned English.
Miss New Jersey USA 2015 Vanessa Oriolo : Italian
Miss Rhode Island USA 2015 Anea Garcia - Dominican. She loves listening to Dominican music. She wants other people to be inspired by her story, never feel ashamed of who they are or where they come from, and show people that there’s always a community of people out there that you can belong to.
