Miss World uses a copy of her crown

Do you know that Miss World winner doesn't use the original crown during her reign, instead she uses a copy of that crown? The main crown uses only for the crowning night, and it costs around 2 million British pounds! During her reign, Miss World travels with a replica, which also is worth nearly $500,000 made of gold and turquoise, crystals and blue stones.

Throughout the history of the pageant the crown has been changed eleven times. The blue crown used for the first time in 1972, then again from 1979 onwards!



 A a new crown design was unveiled. It was only used for the 1972 edition ...but its tenure didn't end there!

The crown design of 1972 made a return after a 7 edition hyatus, a new version that is.

This crown has become the most iconic and longest used crown of the Miss World pageant and is now synonymous with the pageant's mantra "Beauty with a Purpose" and has been nickname the blue crown for its colors and turquoise features and blue stone.


But Miss World is not the only beauty queen with a replica of her crown : Reigning Miss Universe and Miss World uses a replica of their crowns in every events, when they visit other countries and crowning national pageant girls.

The purpose is to protect the crown from further damage and from being stolen because of it's expensive price. They store it in a bank . The original crown is only used in the official crowning moment and some important events.
