2000 was the last time Cartagena won the Senorita Colombia Pageant. Laura Barjum succeeds Miss Colombia 2016 Andrea Tovar. Andrea represented Colombia at the 2016 Miss Universe pageant held in the Philippines where she continued Colombia's stake in the Miss Universe pageant by placing in the semifinals for a third consecutive time finishing 2nd runner up to Iris Mittenaere of France.
