Jewel of Thailand One of the most talk about Miss Universe contestants this year, Chalita Suansane, Miss Universe Thailand is bringing her A game to compete in national costume on 65th Miss Universe. Thailand is always on top of the list when it comes to national costume contest on Miss Universe Pageant. Winning 6 national costumes in the past, Thailand believes they will make it another year.
The concept of the costume this year is back to basic. The costume is inspired by Siwalai, royal Thai tradition outfit worn by HM Queen Sirikit when she visited Europe and America with King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The name of the national costume is “Jewel of Thailand”. It features a gold long-sleeved top with a Sabai and a matching skirt. The costume had been designed and made for 46 days with efforts of more than 100 people.
The culture scholar, Hirankrit Paipibulkul said that the outfit had been separated into 10 different pieces-sleeves, skirt, sabai, top and sent over to designers in different provinces all over Thailand to finish a whole outfit on time. Each part has been embroidered gold with lavishly Swarovski diamonds to spark on the stage. Each diamond has been sewn by hands. The Diamonds are embroidered to illustrate the layout of the Temple of Emerald Buddha. Petronas Towers Kiran Jassal, Miss Universe Malaysia knows she has it on her back. .The costume is nude jumpsuit with a tower on each shoulder. The costume features more than 100,000 hand-sewn Swarovski crystals. With this sparkling costume, it lets her confidence shines on the stage. The sky bridge which is the vital part of the Twin Towers is not left out; it symbolizes by the silver necklace. With this wonderful costume that represents a great connection between Malaysian culture and modernity; Miss Universe Malaysia is making a bold statement on 65th Miss Universe Pageant.
Inspired by Garuda, a mythical eagle-like bird is designed to represent Indonesia on 65th Miss Universe Indonesia. Puteri Indonesia Kezia Warouw is going wear it on the stage to bring home the pride.
The costume is fully hand-made in gold, taking more than 2 months to complete. It represents the diversity of cultures in Indonesia. The wings feature sparkling stone ornaments so that take could reflect the spotlight on the stage and shine over other contestants.
