The country has won Miss Universe in 2002 with Oxana Fedorova but she was dethroned four months later. Fedorova was later rumored to be pregnant. She denied the pregnancy rumors and stated that she voluntarily gave up her crown for personal reasons, mainly because she wanted to finish her law degree.

Miss Russia 2015 Sofia Nikitchuk will represent her country at Miss World 2015 due to the conflicting dates between Miss Universe and Miss World this year. Indeed, Miss World will be held the day before Miss Universe, on December 19.
