“Being Miss South Carolina Teen USA has been a great experience,” said Graham, who spoke July 19 to 30 children at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center in Aiken. “I think pageants help elevate young women into this position of leadership that otherwise you wouldn’t have. You also get to speak to so many different students, and that’s been my target audience. So, it’s been a great opportunity for me to do that.” (newirmonews)
Graham says competing in pageants wasn’t something that came naturally to her early on. “When I was younger, you would not expect me to be Miss South Carolina Teen USA,” she said. “I was very studious, so nobody expected me to be interested in pageants. But I realized that it was something I wanted to do. It looked fun. And I thought what better way to have a voice and say to other girls that beauty is not necessarily defined only by what you look like. Inner beauty comes from character…”
