Erin Brady Opens Up About Her Reign and Life After Miss USA

In 2013 Erin Brady became the first delegate from the state of Connecticut to be crowned Miss USA. She represented the United States at the 62nd annual Miss Universe competition on November 9, 2013, vying to succeed outgoing titleholder Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo of the U.S. She eventually placed in the top 10 exactly at 6th place.

Nearly 5 years after she passed on her crown, Erin Brady retraces her steps toward victory and accounts for all the lessons she has learned throughout her reign as Miss USA. Check out my exclusive interview with her below !

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you? How has changed your life since your victory in the Miss USA Pageant?

My life since the pageant was very chaotic, I moved to California, then back to Connecticut. I am currently modeling, going back to school for my Masters Degree in Finance and working as a Financial Analyst by day.

A day in Erin Brady’s life…. How does it go from dawn to dusk?

I get up and go work out at the gym! Followed by a great breakfast. I go to work Monday - Friday as a Financial Analyst and am currently studying for my masters degree in Finance. I model and spend time with family and friends.

What is the one thing you would like to say to young girls who aspire to be Miss USA ?

I would tell them to make sure they know what it is they want from competing in the pageants. Many people don’t go in with a plan but it’s very important to have an idea of your goals and aspirations regardless of whether or not they end up moving along in the pageant world. It’s a very fun and meaningful experience but also not the end all be all to your life. Just remember that!

This year South Africa won the Miss Universe Pageant. What do you think about Demi Leigh New Peters ? Did you have a favorite for the crown? Do you still follow pageants ?

I of course tune in every year to watch the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. I think that Demi is extremely beautiful and was very deserving of the title this year. I think she is going to have a great time and will represent her country well as the representative of the Miss Universe Organization.

You made the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2013. What does it feel like to be one of the world's most beautiful women ?

My experience at Miss Universe was incredible. It was truly an honor to represent the USA at one of the biggest and most reputable pageants in the world. Of course, our year it was held in Russia which was a very interesting experience. I got to learn so much about the other women, countries, and the lives they lead in their country. I felt amazing to have placed top 10 and feel very special to have gone up against the most beautiful women in the world. Not to mention, I got to spend the rest of my year living with the amazing Gabriela Isler who was my Miss universe :)

Donald Trump was the owner of the MUO until 2015. What does it feel to have worked with the President of the United States ?

I think that it’s very surreal that he was once the owner of a pageant and now is the president of the US. It’s kind of weird to say I got to meet him and be interviewed with him on the Today Show about the Miss USA pageant.

What do you think is the most important quality every beauty queen should possess and why ?

I actually have two qualities; intelligence and sincerity. People appreciate humbleness and sincerity when meeting you and I think it goes a very long way not just in pageants but in life. Also, I love when you meet a beautiful woman that is also very smart. It’s something that the pageants are now showcasing and I think it will only help to remove some of the negative stereotypes that continue to be attached to beauty pageants.

Where do we hope to see you In the next 10 years?

In 10 years, I hope to have a family, make a huge impact in the business world, and still be remembered as one of the most sincere Miss USA’s!

Any message for your fans on Pageants News ?

I would say Thank you to all of the fans for their continued support and love. It does mean so much to still be though about after almost five years after winning. I also hope that my story only helps to encourage other young men and women that have big dreams.
