What do you expect to gain by competing in pageantry?
I gain more confidence each time I compete in pageants and self worth. If you take the time to prepare and execute for a pageant then right there you have won. Also, I believe that I have inspired and influenced other women to always put yourself out there whether you win or lose because with each experience you will learn something valuable from it to take with you on your journey.
What inspired you to walk on the course of beauty pageants?
My Mother who has been my biggest cheerleader and supporter my whole life inspired me to compete in beauty pageants. I danced and was in musical theatre so being up on a stage in front of an audience was second nature to me. I started competing at the age of eighteen and loved the people I met through pageants and how it shaped me to be more confident in front of an audience without singing or dancing. It helped my public speaking and made me always want to set goals for myself and complete them.
What would you advise any young girl out there who has a dream of being a queen one day?
I would tell them to follow their dream of being a beauty queen because I have never stopped following mine. Life can be tough and throw you obstacles but its how you overcome them. Not only is winning the title of your state the job of a lifetime in which I hope to achieve but it is such a fun and rewarding journey along the way that I think every woman should get to experience at least once in your life.
Social media seem to play a major role in pageantry nowadays. Do you think this is advantageous to you? Why or why not?
Social media has come along way when it comes to promoting your brand. I use social media as a tool to promote my journalism work but recently I have seen it work very positively as I have set up a Hurricane Relief Charity even in Boston and have you use all of my social media outlets to get the word out there for people to donate or attend the event. We have had such a high response through Facebook and Instagram which makes me extremely happy since I feel very passionately about helping and giving back to the victims of the hurricanes of Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico through the One America Appeal Organization.
