You will compete at the Miss LA USA Pageant, how will you prepare the contest?
To prepare for the Miss LA USA Pageant I have done several things. I typically run and do Shaun T’s Beach Body Insanity workouts and these last few weeks, I have really boosted my workouts. I love exercising and doing cardio to release stress and stay feeling energized. Working out helps me feel my best and keeps my body healthy and strong. I am also taking part in all the pageantry works, spray tans, mani/pedis, practicing walking and speaking. I have been doing some research on previous pageant queens and watching videos of pageants to gain some insight on the walks and questions answer sessions. It’s really amazing how confident and beautiful these women are and watching how they present themselves with such grace is inspiring.
What unique characteristics would you say you bring to the competition?
My ambition and confidence. This is my first pageant and I am not one to go into something without having prepared. I always give my all no matter what I am doing, and I never leave things unfinished. No one ever likes failure, but I am realistic and I do realize we can’t always win. What I am not okay with, is not trying my absolute best and working my hardest to succeed.
What do you expect to gain by competing in pageantry?
This opportunity is one of a lifetime, to learn about myself and grow into becoming more of the woman I aspire to be. By working to do my best and competing in this pageant, it proves I can never dream too big; there’s nothing I can’t do, as long as I set my mind to it. Being involved in pageantry is a chance to become a voice and example for others, and it's also an outlet for professional networking, creating friendships, and gaining self-confidence.
Social media seems to play a major role in pageantry nowadays. Do you think this is advantageous to you? Why or why not?
I believe social media can be an advantage in many ways. It can be a great platform for success as long as you use it the right way and promote yourself and others in a positive light. You can tell your story and be seen by others across the world. It can be utilized in ways to encourage individuals and also as a way to enhance your professional career.
We’ve all seen the stereotypical portrayals of pageant contestants, like Miss Congeniality, spreading peace, love and beauty throughout the world. How do you think you'll make a difference?
I hope to make a difference. I am very ambitious and passionate. I am a fighter for what I believe in, and if I were to win this pageant, I would strive to be an advocate for others who may feel they have no voice. I am a sucker for the underdog. Everyone should have a chance at success and personal growth. Using what I have learned from my own experiences, I would attempt to show others that anything can be accomplished with passion and drive. Believing in oneself is only the start of reaching one’s goals. And as my favorite actor, Sylvester Stallone, in my favorite movie, Rocky, would say, “It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”
Who is your ideal beauty queen and how has she helped you to evolve as a beauty queen?
My ideal beauty queen is the current Miss Universe, Iris Mittenaere. She is a very beautiful and determined young woman with an extraordinary sense of style. She finished college and is continuing to pursue her dream of becoming a dental surgeon. She proves hard work will take you places you want to be. She also loves shoes and hates spiders which is exactly what my answers would be if you asked my favorite and least favorite things in the world. She enjoys traveling and extreme sports, and she is open to experiencing new things. I believe that inspires me the most because I am usually someone who is a little afraid of change and taking chances, but seeing her chase her dreams, proves to me, that I can do the same.
Thanks to the beautiful Amber for the interview. Pageants News wishes you all the very best for Miss Louisiana USA pageant.
