You will compete at the Miss Texas USA Pageant, how do you feel ? How will you prepare the contest ?
I am incredibly excited not only to compete at the Miss Texas USA Pageant but also for the journey that I have been able to experience leading up to the competition. I have focused on preparing myself as a whole for the pageant: mind, body and soul. Mental preparation and confidence is key when it comes to attaining any goal in life and that is what I have focused on. I believe many of the health and fitness aspects of training for a pageant should be something that is sustainable and not only done in preparation for an event. I was able to find ways to lead an active and healthy lifestyle that will work with my schedule even after the pageant. Feeling good is so important in being able to tackle all of your goals!
What inspired you to walk on the course of beauty pageants?
One year ago, I never thought I would be here competing for Miss Texas USA. I decided to take a huge leap into something I had never done and start competing in pageants earlier this year. I took this leap to prove to myself that you do not have to conform to the mold that society or your culture places you into.
We’ve all seen the stereotypical portrayals of pageant contestants, a la Miss Congeniality, spreading peace, love and beauty throughout the world. How do you think you'll make a difference?
What I have learned since starting my journey in pageants is that there is no truth to the stereotype of a beauty queen. I have met so many diverse women who all have different aspirations and goals and who work hard to achieve them. As an MBA and Master’s student myself, I want young women to see that many of the women who compete are educated and driven. As a young girl, I always had the mindset that I could not be a beauty queen because I did not fit the stereotype. No young girl should feel this about themselves or subjected to a stereotype for any goal they want to accomplish. I hope that I can exemplify the importance of stepping outside the bounds of stereotype.
What would you advise any young girl out there who has a dream of being a queen one day?
My advice for that young girl who has a dream of being a queen or an astronaut or an athlete or whatever dream it is, is to GO FOR IT! No one and nothing can hold you back from your own desires but yourself. Seek out the resources and the people who are on your team and leave those behind who want to bring you down. It is not easy to chase a dream that you or someone else has told you is out of reach, but nothing is out of reach if you let yourself go for it.
Thanks to the beautiful Asha for the interview. Pageants News wishes you all the very best for Miss Texas USA pageant.
