Exclusive interview with Miss Universe 2013 First runner-up Patricia Yurena

At only 17, she was selected as Miss Spain. The gorgeous Patricia Yurena represented Spain at both the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants. On November 9, 2013 she competed to succeed Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, eventually finishing as 1st Runner-Up to Gabriela Isler of Venezuela. She is only the second Spanish woman to place 1st Runner-Up (the first one was Teresa Sánchez López in 1985). Almost 4 years after the gorgeous Patricia is a successful international model.

So, how her life has changed since her crowning as Miss Spain Universe ? Lets know a little more about it through this interview!

You were the first runner-up at Miss Universe 2013. What does it feel like to be one of the world's most beautiful women ?

When you compete in an important contest like Miss Universe, anyone can be the winner. Since we are talking about women who have competed nationally in their countries and in theory, have been selected for having qualities suitable to opt for The Crown of Miss Universe. In my case, it was a pride to be the first runner-up. That means my effort was recognized. And I made my country proud.

How has your life changed since you were crowned Miss Spain Universe ?

It's not just about being a beautiful woman. It prepares you for a job, not just a competition. You carry great responsibility on.

My life changed in a better way! I am able to use my title to work on the projets that I love. I also gained the support of many!
What was your most memorable moment in Miss Universe?

The treatment of the organization was wonderful and I stay with memories that I will cherish forever. To this day, I'm still in contact with many of the 2013 Miss Universe Contestants.

Obviously, one of the most excited moment was the final moment, where the confusion of who had been the winner, made me feel Miss Universe for a few seconds! LOL!

Many misses have said that their dream since a child was to participate in a pageant as prestigious as Miss World (or Miss Universe). Was this your case? And if so, why?

It was not my case. I did not dream of being a Miss. I was born Miss and I did not know! LOL!

The world of beauty contests hide many beautiful things. Although others, I do not like them that much. But I stay with what it feels like when a contest and people from all over the world support it and unconditionally they are to make you stand firm.

That feeling is unique !! I am very grateful. Because if I did not dream of it, I can say that "great moment" made me live what could have been a dream!

Tell us about your career as model. How did you get started?

I have been in the world of fashion since I was seventeen. I started across the world "Miss". Ten years on this. I am happy and grateful that a "simple" decision made me change the course of my life.

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?

There are many things that do not know about me. But I invite you to know me. Whoever wins it will know.

What is the one thing you would like to say to young girls who aspire to compete at Miss Universe ?

Let them be themselves, but let them protect themselves. They will enter a jungle where there are very beautiful plants, but very dangerous animals!
