You started in the world of beauty pageants in 2012. Which contest was your favorite ? and why ?
I think every pageant I did had it's own charm. I was very young when I did Miss Earth and felt no pressure at all, because I only knew a few days before I left that I was representing the Netherlands. I learned a lot about life during Miss Earth.
Miss International was completely different from Miss Earth, I did feel the pressure in this pageant. All of the sudden I became a favorite and that was amazing! I got the nicest reviews. My favorite was: Netherlands her jaw is more structured than my life.
Miss Grand was amazing! It had by far the best production out of the three, but also a lot of rehearsals. I was so lucky with my roomie Parul (Philippines). I went to visit her last year and we still FaceTime eachother. Every time I think about all the fun her, Spain, India and me had I still start laughing.
Tell us about your career as model. How did you get started?
That's a funny story actually. I went to get photo's for my passport. The photographer said that I was photogenic and offered me a free photoshoot. He sent my photo's to an agency and that's how it all started!
If you weren't a model, what would you want to do?
I have a degree in Built Environment and Real Estate. I can basically do everything that's property related (development, management or investments). I'm currently in Melbourne, Australia to gain some international experience in this field.
Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?
My feet are way too small for my height. They have a particular shape that makes it hard for me to balance myself or fit in shoes. I have seen people commenting mean things about my walk, but it actually has a medical reason!
How do you imagine your life in ten years ?
I would have visited a very big part of the world and run my own business that is related to my degree. Hopefully have a nice house with a walk-in-closet for my shopping addiction and a husband who accepts and never complains about this flaw. I don't want him to pay for it, so he shouldn't complain anyway haha.
What is your message to young girls and young women ?
TRAVEL!!! I learned so much from all my travels, wether it was for pageants or holidays, learning about different cultures changes your perspective. Step out of your comfort zone and do the stuff that you want to do.
