She was the big favorite for the crown with Miss Oklahoma USA 2015 Olivia Jordan… Ylianna Guerra from Texas is her first runner-up! Miss Rhode Island Anea Garcia, Miss Maryland Mamé Adjei and Miss Nevada Brittany McGowan made the TOP 5 with them.
From the moment the Q&A concluded, we knew right then and there that Oklahoma and Texas were gonna be the Top 2.
After weeks of controversy generated by pageant co-owner Donald Trump’s comments about Mexican immigrants, the pageant passed with no mention of the real estate mogul who was not in attendance.
The annual contest, generally known for its dazzling dresses and sexy swimsuits, was this year under an uncomfortable spotlight due to comments made by Trump, the pageant’s co-owner. Ylianna Guerra was one of the contestant with Mexican roots.
“I want to thank everyone for all of their love and support. The best is yet to come!!!” said Guerra after the 2015 Miss USA Pageant.
History of Texas at the Miss USA Pageant
Texas is the most successful state ever to compete at Miss USA. It has had nine winners, three more than any other state, but only one Miss Universe. Texas may be best known for its five consecutive winners.
Before Texas won consecutively from 1985 to 1989, no state had ever won the Miss USA pageant more than two times in succession. Texas also has the most semifinalists (or better) – 45, and has received the most special awards – 9.
