Miss World Australia 2015 Contestants

The Miss World Australia Pageant identifies young Australian women who exemplify beauty, talent, intelligence and compassion. Courtney Thorpe will crown her successor at the end of Miss World Australia 2015. The winner will represent her country at Miss World 2015 on 19 December 2015 at the Beauty Crown Grand Theatre in China.

In 2014 Thorpe made the TOP 5 at Miss World 2014. Courtney was awarded the Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty, Oceania; Thorpe also placed as a finalist in almost all of the challenge events including Top Model, Health and Fitness, Interview, Beauty with a Purpose (Charity), Multimedia and was in the final top 10 of the People’s Choice Award.

Courtney Thorpe Miss World Australia 2014's words "So as the end of this chapter is fast approaching (and after a lot of nagging from friends and family who are sick of keeping it a secret!) I thought it was probably time to finally share what is next for me. I have learnt a lot and changed a lot over the past year. My time as MWA has reminded me that my true passion is helping others, trying to make the world a better place and standing up for what is right. But most importantly what it has helped me realise is that I really can do anything. So a few months ago I finally found the courage to believe in myself and do what I have wanted to do ever since I was 6 years old. Even though it's still a few weeks until I officially hand over the title, today was the first day of my next chapter... As a law student!"

History of the Miss World Australia Pageant

For the Miss World contest, a Miss World Australia is chosen through screenings. In previous years, titleholders from the original Miss World Australia contest were sent to Miss World.

However, this was not the case in 2006, when the national contest was cancelled and Sabrina Houssami was controversially crowned the winner. Penelope Plummer became Australia’s first Miss World in 1968. Before Miss World Australia, the Australian representatives at Miss World pageants were the candidates of the Miss Australia pageant.
