Miss Universe 2014 in Brazil ?

Miss Universe 2014 in Brazil ?

According to new rumors Miss Universe 2014 will be held at the Centro de Eventos do Ceará in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Miss Universe in Brazil ? It’s not the first time. Indeed, Miss Universe 2011, the 60th anniversary of the Miss Universe pageant, was held at the Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011. Leila Lopes from Angola succeeded to Miss Universe 2010 from Mexico Ximena Navarrete. In 2011, the pageant was held for the first time in Brazil, some fans protested against Laura Goncalves and Priscila Machado’s placement. -Respectively Miss Portugal and Miss Brazil- for some fans, Laura Goncalves and Priscila Machado ‘stole their place’ and had good rankings also because Brazil was the hostcountry. They were in the top 16 for Laura and 2nd runner-up for Priscila. So, automatically, for this new edition fans will think that the same situation will happen. But, be the ambassador of the host country does not necessarily mean that you already won. We think about Elmira Abdrazakova for Russia or Rima Fakih, Miss Usa 2010. Photo from

Last year the 62nd Miss Universe pageant was held on November 9, 2013 at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia. Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe 2013 from Venezuela will crown her successor at end of the event. Miss Universe 2014 will be the most expensive ever built seat with approximately $ 181.5million. NBC, TeleMundo and Miss Universe Organization already negotiated. In front of a worldwide audience of approximately 1 billion viewers, Miss Universe makes considerable money off TV ads and international broadcast rights, but it also rakes in franchising fees; countries or states that wish to hold qualifying pageants must pay for the privilege. Officials from the Miss Universe Organization have reportedly already visited and left the country after negotiations. The Miss Universe Organization, however has not announced the host country yet.

I was there in the audience, and the 2011 Miss Universe was not stolen. Angola deserved to win. The audience helped, but she was shinning. About Miss Brazil´s spot in the top ten, it was really fair. She did a great figure although many brazilian fans were not
wishing her as the countrys representative.

I think the protests questioning Miss Portugal or Miss Brazil are unfair. Cause in 2001, Puerto Rico won Miss Universe being the host country.
Nobody protested against Venezuela winning back to back…2008/2008 or in 2013 AGAIN, neither protested Olivia Culpo, from USA nobody’s favorite candidate, WON, after stunning former contestants from USA like Shandy Finnessey was 2º Place 2004. Not even former Miss USA who fell on stage in Mexico and in the same year, 2007, Miss Brazil was 2º place.
Priscila Machado deserved to be in the top ten…and if it was really stolen…I think they would not stole a second-runner up place. 🙂
Even the lucky girl from Portugal, who could be compared with countries like Kosovo. 🙂 Surprises in the top 16.
People get said with results but they forget that: VENEZUELA is a role model to follow, USA, USA are the owners of the organization…and Brazil has grown to prepare great candidates for the contest
    big kiss
