Laura Puleo, 25, was crowned Miss Virginia USA 2015 in November 2014. Laura competed last year in Miss Virginia USA and placed second runner up – “I treated my final question like a cold call (so it gave me a last second jolt of confidence) while dressed in a red carpet ready gown. So fancy!”
“It’s just much more than a beauty pageant, and girls showing what they have in their beauty and intelligence, you know with the swimsuit and evening gowns so we like to add some extra touch to it to make it really exciting,” said Kim Nicewonder, the executive director of the Miss Virginia USA pageant.

Laura Puleo lives in Lexington, VA, where she is in her last semester of Law School at Washington and Lee University. She graduated from Duke University, Cum Laude, with degrees in Latin & Attic Greek.
Laura advocates for The 296 Project, a nonprofit organization with a mission to promote, fund, support & advocate for art & expressive therapy as a means to combat the painful symptoms of PTS & TBI in active duty & veteran US service members.

The history of Virginia at the Miss USA Pageant
Virginia has been only moderately successful in terms of number of semi-finalists, they have had two Miss USAs : Deborah Shelton in 1970 and Wendy Dascomb in 1969. They are one of only three states to have had two Miss USAs in succession (the others being Illinois and Texas).

Laura will represent Virginia at Miss USA 2015 in Baton Rouge on July 12, 2015. Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez will crown her successor at the end of the competition. The winner will represent the US at Miss Universe 2015. We wish her all the best!
