The diversity of the 2015 Miss USA Contestants

In recent weeks, the beauty pageant has faced has a brand new problem by the name of Donald Trump, as the broadcast of the event is being dropped by networks due to Trump’s extremely offensive remarks about Mexican people. Trump, 69, bought the pageant in 1996, and brokered a deal with NBC in 2002, that gave the network half-ownership over the organization.

By the way, the Miss USA Pageant has really made us appreciate the wonderful diversity of the contestants who are participating in this year’s pageant. This year’s Miss USA contestants represent many different ethnic backgrounds, including six Latinas (four of whom are of Mexican descent.) Annually, nearly ten thousand young women all around the world participate in Miss Universe pageant events.

We are going to end this little spiel with Maria Remenyi, the first naturalised citizen to become Miss USA. Maria was born in Denmark, raised in Hungary and escaped to the US during the Hungarian revolt. She was Miss USA 1966.
