Alexandra Curtis, former Miss Upstate New York winner and a Syracuse University alumna, was crowned Miss Rhode Island 2015 for Miss America 2016. The pageant girl is now at Brown University working toward a master’s degree in public.

She will have a few months to prepare for Miss America 2016, where she hopes to be crowned by the reigning Miss America, Kira Kazantsev.The 89th Miss America pageant) will be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 13, 2015.
The reigning Miss Rhode Island USA 2015 is Anea Garcia, she will compete at Miss USA 2015 in Baton Rouge on july 12, 2015. Both Pageants are different. The winner of Miss USA 2015 will represent the US at Miss Universe 2015 while Miss America doesn’t compete at International Pageants.
According to The Daily Orange the beauty queen was president of Syracuse University’s Student Association, was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and served as co-president of the Class of 2014’s Student Council.

The last placement of Rhode Island at the Miss America Pageant was in 2003 with Laurie Gray when she made the TOP 10. In 1967, Marilyn Cocozza became the third runner-up, and yes, Rhode Island made the TOP only two times in the history!
